Just a couple of things this newbie has noticed:
1. Why is this being addressed now? Supposedly during the school year this list is super-active... why not put it to the list now rather than those few of us subbed having all the say-so?
2. As it was just mentioned on list by Meehan (quoted below)
"> Each player
> can choose whether or not to use these rules in their
> stories, just as each storyteller chooses whether or
> not to allow them in their game. No official ruling
> needs to be done regarding them.
For most, this is certainly true, especially with regards to many of the
options in the HPG.
However, there is a slight benefit to officially deciding where those
options fall. In the past,
the List has (for the most part) adopted the "Invisible" stance (i.e. if
a poster's use of an option
isn't directly discernible, no harm done). But, some posters (or
would-be-posters) may not
understand this, or discern this. It can not but help to make the List's
position on this clear" [end quote]
I know I didn't know about this. What's wrong with at least for now making a citation in the FAQ about it (I'm sure somewhere it says something like not pissing in the pot... maybe add it there) and then going from there once the list gets back up to its more normal member count?
Sorry to bring point #1 back up, but really, fairness was mentioned in the on-list discussion on this topic and it just seems odd to me that we're doing it seemingly behind some people's backs.
I watched the stupid syndrome of the list (or it was called something like that to me on this board when I asked about it) and I'd just hate to see something like that again so soon, mightn't making some ruling like that just inspire another one of those escapades?
Just my thoughts... and sorry that was more than two points... heh...
